Bring in your bike, leave on E-Bike
We do not offer conversions for carbon fiber bikes due to the material's fragility and brittle nature. However, bikes with carbon components in areas other than the bottom bracket—such as a carbon fork—can be converted without any issues.
UGO CYCLE offers a conversion kit specifically designed for fat bikes, with bottom bracket widths of 100 mm or 120 mm. However, due to the unique geometry of these bikes, we recommend contacting us for a thorough assessment of compatibility and available options.
Absolutely not. In the vast majority of cases, our solution offers the advantage of being installed without requiring any permanent structural modifications to your bike, such as welding or cutting. Furthermore, if necessary, the electric conversion kit can be uninstalled, allowing you to return your bike to its original state. This flexibility is a significant advantage, especially if you decide to sell your bike while keeping your conversion kit.
The UGO CYCLE electric conversion kit is a solution that can be successfully installed on approximately 95% of conventional bikes with a bottom bracket width between 68 and 73 mm. This is where the ingenuity of UGO CYCLE's universal solution truly lies.
Occasionally, wear and tear or non-standard parts (pedals, chains, etc.) may require minor adjustments or replacements. If your bike is a bit unique, we are fully equipped to adapt the kit at a very low cost.
The UGO CYCLE conversion kit generally adds a maximum of 15 lbs to your bike. This weight includes the mid-drive motor (7.5 lbs) and the battery (between 7 and 8 lbs, depending on the model chosen). It is important to note that the battery is removable; we recommend removing it for any handling, which cuts the kit's added weight in half and makes lifting and transporting your bike much easier.
When you convert your bike with a UGO CYCLE kit, you generally retain the use of your rear derailleur. It can still be used to help the motor perform more efficiently based on the terrain, allowing you to benefit from assistance tailored to your needs. However, because the entire crankset is replaced during the conversion process, the front derailleur will be removed. For example, a 24-speed bike (3 front chainrings and 8 rear gears) will become an 8-speed electric bike.
The motors are IP54 certified, while the displays are IP65 certified. This dual certification ensures weather resistance, allowing the kits to withstand rain and snow under standard riding conditions. However, we recommend avoiding prolonged exposure to extreme conditions, such as leaving the bike out in heavy, continuous rain for extended periods.
We offer several display options with our conversion kits, each with specific features to enhance your riding experience. The "Original 4" display offers 4 levels of assistance and is the only one compatible with a thumb throttle, allowing you to engage motor power without pedaling.
The "Compact 5" display features 5 levels of assistance and a comprehensive odometer. Additionally, it can be paired via Bluetooth with the "Ibike+" app for a connected riding experience.
With our "Original 4" display, you have the option to install a thumb throttle, which allows you to access motor power without pedaling. However, in accordance with road safety regulations, using this feature requires the installation of motor-cutoff brake sensors (included with the option). Our systems are designed to ensure a safe, compliant riding experience, keeping you secure on the road.
The electric conversion kit, including its motor and controller, is programmed to comply with Canadian federal regulations for power-assisted bicycles. This means that the electric assistance will automatically cut off once you reach a speed of 32 km/h, allowing your own muscle power to propel you beyond that speed. However, it is important to note that, as a cyclist, you must observe the speed limits imposed by the Highway Safety Code, just like any other vehicle on public roads.
We install 48V / 500W mid-drive motors equipped with torque sensors, which comply with road safety regulations. Upon special request, we also offer a 48V / 750W motor featuring the same torque sensor technology; please note that this is for off-road use only, as it exceeds the 500-watt limit permitted in Canada. Our motors provide up to 90 Nm of torque and utilize the bike's existing drivetrain, allowing cyclists to optimize motor power according to the terrain.
Our Li-Ion batteries are designed for an optimal lifespan, featuring high-quality cells from renowned brands like LG or Samsung, protected by an advanced Battery Management System (BMS). With a calendar life of approximately 6 years and up to 800 full charge/discharge cycles, they can cover between 30,000 and 40,000 km with daily use. Our team will provide you with all the necessary information to maximize their longevity.
Charging time varies depending on the battery capacity and the charger. With our standard 48V/2.0A chargers, you can charge your battery from 0 to 100% in a maximum of 6.5 hours for the 48V/12.8Ah battery and 7.5 hours for the 48V/15Ah battery. If you are in a hurry, the battery will reach an 80% charge in just 3 hours. You can charge the battery at any time without having to wait for it to be completely depleted.
UGO CYCLE electric conversion kits are installed on your bike with the goal of providing exceptional service and ensuring your complete satisfaction. All UGO CYCLE electric conversion kits are covered by a (12) twelve-month limited warranty covering both parts and labor.
